A positive Father’s Day Article

It is great to be a part of a positive article about being a stay at home dad!The LA Post Examiner just posted one of the most positive articles I have seen about stay at home dads.  The article is based on the the Pew Research Group’s June 5 report, “Stay At Home Dads”!
Where as a few other publications have chosen to take a negative approach to the subject, and picked apart reasons why men might stay at home, such as being laid off or not able to find a job.  The Examiner has really shown great respect for those dads who have chosen to stay at home.

“There has been a dramatic surge in the number of men who are choosing to stay at home for the primary purpose of raising their children.”

I know it happens, there are dads I know that have lost their jobs, can’t find one or being at home may not be their first choice.  I would hope that with anything, people don’t generalize and put all dads into the same category. I also do hope that for any of the dads that are at home with their kids for whatever the reason, they are making the best of it, enjoying the kids as much as they can and being a positive influence on everywhere in their life.

I really liked how Lisa Perez Tighe, the author of this article, made the point that people should not assume the reasons why a dad is at home with his kids, along with the point that working families are a work in progress in America!
It is a work in progress, that I think we are heading in the right direction.  My choice for being a stay at home is and has been the best choice for my family!
I hope you enjoy the article as much as I have!

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there!
